Michael Thalmann is a Swiss pianist who plays concerts in Europe, Asia, Central- and South America both as soloist and chamber music partner; especially his Liszt interpretations are met with international praise. 

He studied at the Musikhochschule Bern and graduated in 1992 with a Master’s degree in Specialized Music Performance. He attended master classes of Prof. S. Dorenski and Prof. R. Kehrer at the Mozarteum in Salzburg . He was also taught and advanced by Liszt specialist Leslie Howard in London. In 1993 he was admitted to study at the “Fondazione Internazionale Theo Lieven per il Pianoforte” (Cadenabbia/Italy), where he was taught by Leon Fleisher and Dimitrij Bashkirov, among others. He made his debut at the London Wigmore Hall in 1997. His first CD with pieces by Franz Schubert and Franz Liszt was released in the same year (Koch-Discover International).
